In the lesson, we will talk about Leadership in the BI Triangle.

What is leadership?
To be simple, “Leadership is the ability of an individual or a group of individuals to influence and guide followers or other members of an organization – Mary K. Pratt“
For me, Leadership is your action to do one thing you want, and you influence others to do the thing with you.
Let’s talk about the Virtual English Testing Platform For Everybody Flyer.us Team as an example:

Firstly, FLYER starts with the idea of Founder Tung Tony. No one believes that he can do the product because it is new and doesn’t have any similar products in the world to compare. The risk of failure is very high. But he still believes in his Mission and Vision and finds a Team to build the dream. After 1.5 years, we can see that FLYER is accepted by more than 500 English Centres, Schools in Vietnam.
Secondly, about FLYER Culture: Everyone writes blogs. I have the idea first, and startup with Fundraising Series during 3 months. After that, Tung Tony said he will write blogs to share and communicate with the internal and external staff. Our art director Leo Dinh strongly supported our idea, he wrote back his blog and push his artist team to write. Our tech director Phillip Bui and Product Owner Ngoc Le also joined the campaign. It helps us improve our writing skills, understand other company members and build a healthy culture.
The last example, Leadership not only comes from Startup C-levels but also from other departments. Our startup communicates on Slack, but we have very few interactions on the tool. Everything changed when Ngoc Le joined FLYER. She goes to all groups, chats, drops emotions, pushes the work, and the whole company refresh completely. We communicate, interact 4-5 times better than in the past.

We finish lesson 3 here. You can become a good leader in a startup by doing the work as a mirror, and everybody will follow you. See you in the next lesson.
