After that, I have just completed 1vs1 coaching session with Hoa. Though she has a lot of experience in the financial field and worked with many big companies to raise capital, she is surprised by the fundraising of the startup ways
1) Many startups are finding their product-market fit (PMF), and they don’t have revenue, so how to evaluate their valuation?
In this case, I guide Hoa to look at the startup’s market size. Secondly, the team is also significant. If they can pitch a clear pitch deck, with a detailed business plan (exit strategy included), the investors can put money on the high valuation without tracking the revenue.
2)Startups lack financial knowledge, and the financial field is very complicated. How do build a simple financial structure for startups?
I share with Hoa the problems of many startups I met (including myself), and show her the financial documents need in the early stages. Based on that, Hoa has the overview to build the financial template for the startups.
